Narrative Practice is an approach that helps narrate life story and reconstruct dominant storyline. It aims to assist people to explore their local wisdom in order to live a better life. Narrative Practice has been widely used in various fields including psychotherapy, counselling, interview, group discussion, and community education. “Narrative Practice 101” is an introductory course that targets participants who are interested in Narrative Practice, also for those who would like to join the work of Human Libraries Hub.

Lecturers:
Dr Chitat Chan, Registered Social Worker, Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Social Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he has focused his research around identity, storytelling, and media. Dr Chan worked as a school social worker in 1990s, worked in secondary education in 2000s, and started teaching social work courses and supervising fieldwork placements since 2010. Chitat Chan received his social work degree, theatre studies diploma, and MPhil in Hong Kong, and earned his PhD from University of London in 2008. The Narrative Therapy course at PolyU has been coordinated and taught by Dr Chan since 2017.
Hoyee Au-Yeung, family counselor and currently Research Associate at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She obtained B.S. Psychology and M.A.S.W Family Therapy. She has worked as a counselor for local schools and non-profit organizations, as well as a researcher for overseas and local universities. In 2018, Hoyee joined Dr. Chitat Chan’s team to study the applications of Narrative Practice.
