A wonderful life in blindness

Chan Chi Gong Alex was diagnosed with inherited retinal degeneration disease in 2000. He lost his sight completely in 2003. Alex describes his vision as seeing things through a piece of A4 paper. He can only distinguish between day and night, but cannot see other things. At that time, he had a lot of fears about the future. He was afraid that he could not handle daily life, he did not want to meet people and just sat at home alone. Looking back, Alex says life in blindness is ‘actually, more wonderful’.
